New National Information Communications Technology Centre
UNSW is a leading partner in the consortium that has won the right to manage the new National Information Communications Technology Australia (NICTA) centre of excellence, which will provide a focus for world-class research, intellectual property creation and research training in ICT.

When graduates leave UNSW, they set about applying their knowledge and skills in a range of environments that both test and expand their capabilities. UNSW Civil and Environmental Engineers shine at IEAust Excellence Awards
At the Institution of Engineers, Australia (Sydney Division) 2002 Excellence Awards held on 11 October, of the four personal awards, three went to UNSW Civil and Environmental Engineers.

Robocup 2002
The annual international Robocup competition has the ultimate goal of developing a humanoid robotic team that can defeat the human World Cup soccer team by 2050!

UNSW re-enacts first graduation ceremony
On 15 March 1952, UNSW’s first graduation ceremony was held in the Great Hall at the University of Sydney.

Faculty of Engineering Alumni Anniversary Reunion
"Many Engineering graduates have indicated a wish to remember their time at UNSW and to meet old friends from their graduation class," said the Dean, Professor Brendon Parker. "In response, we have decided to organise regular Faculty of Engineering Alumni Anniversary Dinners to celebrate the 20th, 30th 40th and 50th anniversaries of graduation.

Faculty History
The Faculty History Project is now in its final stages of data collection with the publication of the Faculty History due at the end of 2003.

Vale Hal Phillips
When he retired in 1982, Hal Phillips was the Senior Administrative Officer in what is now the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications.

Graduate Profile - Wal King
Wal King AM (BE ’66, MEngSc ’68, Hon DSc ’02), CEO of Leighton Holdings Limited, was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate by UNSW, for his distinguished eminence in the field of construction engineering.
