If you are going home over the break and would like to visit your High School and give a presentation about your “personal point of view” as to why you decided to study engineering at UNSW and then assist to strengthen the awareness of UNSW engineering programs to attract students to study engineering at UNSW, then read the following information on the Faculty of Engineering's offer to reimburse current engineering students travel expenses. (conditions apply)

Objective of the Program

• To have current UNSW Engineering students return to their High Schools to assist with the promotion of engineering as a valued and respected career option.
• The current UNSW Engineering student will give their “personal point of view” as to why they decided to study engineering at UNSW and then assist to strengthen the awareness of UNSW engineering programs to attract high quality students to study engineering at UNSW.

School Visit Approvals

• Students are required to complete the “School Visit – Current Students” application form for approval prior to finalising arrangements for the School Visit.
• The Student Liaison Officer will assess the form using guidelines detailed by the Dean, and notify the student of the outcome of their application.

School Visit and Travel

• The student is responsible for organising the School Visit, and the cheapest economy return travel.
• The Faculty will fund the students return economy travel (by train or bus, unless flight is the cheapest available option). The student is responsible for all other expenses incurred, including accommodation and meals.
• If approval is granted, the student will be briefed by the Student Liaison Officer on their conduct during the School Visit.
• The student will not defame the University or the Faculty in any way, and will abide by the “Recruitment Activities Safety Guidelines”
• The student must keep all receipts of travel expenses they incur.
• The student must complete an evaluation form upon return to UNSW.
• Australian High Schools Only.

Reimbursement

• The student is to supply the Student Liaison Officer with a copy of original receipts when seeking reimbursement.
• An APO1 will be completed for the Dean’s signature.

OH&S

• A copy of the Safety Guidelines will be supplied to all students prior to them attending any School Visit.
• All participants in the School Visit must complete a working with Children Prohibition Declaration and forms prior to their visit.
