The Faculty of Engineering at UNSW is the largest in Australia with the highest number of engineering research students working to produce excellence in all the major engineering disciplines. Graduates and staff make up 25 per cent of the ‘top 100 influential engineers in Australia’.
The Faculty consistently performs well in international rankings. The Times Higher Education Supplement and the Melbourne Institute of Advanced Studies position UNSW’s Engineering Faculty first in Australia. Engineering and Computing at UNSW were awarded a top ranking for teaching excellence and teaching improvement by the Federal Government’s Teaching and Learning Performance Fund in 2009.
UNSW’s Engineering Faculty is internationally renowned for fundamental and applied research. We cooperate closely with industry and the wider community to develop collaborative research activities with international and local impact. Outstanding individuals within the Faculty, teamwork and a high level of cross-disciplinary cooperation combine to produce innovative research.
The Faculty of Engineering’s exceptional research track record is confirmed by our success in securing competitive national grants such as Australia Research Council Discovery and Linkage Grants. The Faculty also attracts significant funding from industry and the community, as well as the Federal Government’s Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) program.
The Engineering Faculty is associated with numerous national research centres and Centres of Excellence and plays a major role in UNSW’s national and international research status by attracting distinguished visiting academics from around the world.
