Outreach

Outreach

At the Faculty of Engineering we connect with and contribute to our community, focusing on the education of future engineers and research into current global issues as well as providing solutions to real world problems and helping communities in need.

Outreach means we:

  • promote the vital role of engineers in our modern world;
  • encourage future students to study engineering so they can directly impact our global community;
  • recruit and support students from diverse backgrounds regardless of geographic or economic circumstances;
  • undertake multidisciplinary research focusing on current issues of significance to Australia as well as around the world, such as energy, water, health and infrastructure;
  • maintain extensive links with industry which ensure we provide timely solutions to real-life engineering problems; and
  • help communities in need through research collaboration, such as rapid response recovery after natural disasters, and through organisations like Engineers Without Borders (EWB) and UNSW's Habitat Society in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity's Global Village program
