Outreach to High Schools

The Faculty of Engineering has specific events and activities aimed at high school students, such as:

  • Campus Tours led by Faculty of Engineering student ambassadors
  • Visits to High Schools by a representative of the Faculty
  • Careers Markets
  • Competitions like UNSW Prog Comp and Robotic Workshops
  • Lectures for high school students (Computer Science and Engineering)  
  • Engineering School Programs, where individual Schools within the Faculty provide projects directly to the high schools involved
  • High School Information Days
  • Sponsorship of Engineers Australia’s Great Engineering Challenge, aimed at students in Years 11 and 12

ASPIRE

The UNSW equity initiative ASPIRE has partnerships with 10 Sydney high schools to send staff and trained student volunteers to co-ordinate on-campus and in-school activities to help students who show aptitude reach their full potential. The Faculty of Engineering seeks out students who display a strong aptitude for science and maths and have an interest in engineering.
