Federal Environment Minister and Member for Kingsford Peter Garrett received a briefing on the latest satellite ground displacement measuring technology developed in the Faculty of Engineering during a visit to UNSW in April. Minister Garrett met with Vice-Chancellor Professor Fred Hilmer, NewSouth Innovations CEO Mark Bennett, and Professor Chris Rizos and Associate Professor Linlin Ge of the School of Surveying and Spatial Information Systems. Associate Professor Ge gave a presentation on the technology which has applications in monitoring mine subsidence and is being commercialised with NewSouth Innovations.
