Tenure
- $30,000 pa (equivalent to a UNSW Research Excellence Award – 2008 rate shown - for Scholarships awarded from 2009)
- Scholarship holders in 2009 undertaking a PhD are eligible for a Supplementary Engineering Award (SEA) valued at $8,000 per annum (taxable). Conditions apply. No application is required.
- Students must commence their research before 31 March
of the same year, or the award will be allocated to another
applicant.

Eligibility
- The Women in Engineering Research Scholarship is only available to female applicants who are Australian or New Zealand citizens or who are permanent residents of Australia.
- Applicants must have completed or expect to complete an appropriate degree with Honours I (or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
- Students must be commencing in their first year of a full-time PhD program.
- Students must undertake full-time study as an internal PhD candidate in the Faculty of Engineering, UNSW.
Overseas Applicants
The University administers the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (EIPRS) scheme (funded by the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST)) and the University International Postgraduate Awards (UIPA) scheme (funded by UNSW). These scholarships are highly competitive and the required information is available from the UNSW Graduate Research School (GRS): http://www.grs.unsw.edu.au.

Selection is based on academic achievement and research potential.
Application Information
The scholarship is awarded for a Session 1 commencement. Applications normally close 31 October.
Application must be made on the Women in Engineering Research Scholarship application form.
Applicants for the Women in Engineering Research Scholarship who want to be considered for a Session 1 Faculty of Engineering Research Scholarship must submit an application under the APA/UPA scheme by the due date (normally 31 October for a Session One commencement, see the Graduate Research School website: http://www.grs.unsw.edu.au.)
