This initiative has been allocated a total of $280,000 by Engineering and ADFA for funding in 2008 and 2009.  The Scheme provides seed funding of up to $30,000 per project to promote research collaborations between researchers from Engineering and ADFA and to enable these researchers to develop their research to be competitive nationally in terms of quality and/or ability to attract external funding.  In 2008, this initiative also seeks to promote international collaboration with universities in the Asia-Pacific region in order to build upon the International Research Workshop held at UNSW in February.
