The Faculty of Engineering
is committed to providing a working environment free of risks to the health, safety
and welfare of its staff, students, contractors and visitors in accordance with
the UNSW Safety Policy. This website provides information, resources and training
programs to enable all pesons working within the Faculty to carry out their OHS
responsibilities.
All staff, students, contractors and visitors are expected
to:
- comply with UNSW OHS policies and Faculty procedures at all
times;
- conduct all research and teaching in a safe manner that ensures
no harm can come to other persons, property or the environment;
- cooperate
with UNSW and Faculty management in the development, implementation and maintenance
of safe working procedures and practices;
- participate in all levels of
training programs;
- immediately report hazards and incidents.
The
Faculty's OHS Coordinator has the primary role of:
- establishing
the Faculty's risk profile through the development of a Hazard and Risk Register;
- providing
health and safety training programs;
- coordinating local health and safety
committees;
- assisting the development of local OHS Management Systems;
- providing
information and advice on OHS matters.
